About Embercleave
Embercleave (FOIL Showcase) is a premium Embercleave MTG proxy card from Magic: The Gathering‘s Throne of Eldraine set. This red mythic legendary artifact equipment is most useful in decks built around aggressive combat, Voltron pressure, and go-wide attacks, making it a useful option for casual Commander, cube, display, and deck testing.

What Embercleave Does
Embercleave has flash, costs
less to cast for each attacking creature you control, and attaches to a creature you control when it enters the battlefield. The equipped creature gets +1/+1, double strike, and trample.
That makes Embercleave a combat finisher. It is strongest when you attack with several creatures, reduce the cost, then attach it to the creature most likely to deal a large amount of damage. Double strike and trample are not subtle. They are the combat step kicking the door open.
The card is less effective in slower decks with few attackers, since the cost reduction depends on attacking creatures and the payoff needs a creature ready to hit hard.
Best Uses for Embercleave MTG Proxy
- Red aggressive decks: Embercleave rewards wide attacks and turns one attacker into a major damage threat.
- Voltron decks: Double strike and trample help a single large creature push through blockers.
- Cube combat decks: Embercleave gives red aggro and midrange decks a high-impact equipment finisher.
Recommended Interactions
Embercleave works well with creatures that attack early, cards that create multiple attackers, and commanders that care about combat damage. It is worth testing if your deck regularly attacks with enough creatures to reduce the cost.
- Fervent Champion: Attacks early and can equip Embercleave for free after it is on the battlefield.
- Anax, Hardened in the Forge: Supports go-wide red boards that help reduce Embercleave’s casting cost.
- Godo, Bandit Warlord: Can search for equipment and gives combat-focused decks another way to pressure the table.
Strengths and Considerations
The main strength of Embercleave is surprise damage. Flash and cost reduction let it appear during combat and change the math after blocks are already awkward.
The main consideration is board dependency. Embercleave needs attackers and a good creature to carry it. Testing Embercleave MTG proxy can help you decide whether your Commander deck, cube, or casual red combat shell can support the card consistently.
