If it’s in your opening hand and you’re not the starting player, you can begin the game with it already on the battlefield—but you have to exile a card from your hand to do it. That trade is often worth it in fast formats because it effectively turns being on the draw into a chance at “turn-zero” acceleration, letting you deploy early rocks, interaction, or a key engine piece ahead of schedule.
In normal play, Gemstone Caverns taps for {C}, but if it has its luck counter, it instead taps for one mana of any color, which helps smooth awkward openers in multicolor decks. The Stellar Sights borderless treatment is part of Edge of Eternities’ lands bonus sheet—functionally the same card, but presented as a premium collectible printing tied to the set’s “space vista” theme.
