About Fiend Artisan

Fiend Artisan (FOIL Showcase) is a premium Fiend Artisan MTG proxy card from Magic: The Gathering‘s Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths set. This black-green creature is most useful in decks built around graveyards, creature toolboxes, and sacrifice engines, making it a useful option for casual Commander, cube, display, and deck testing.

What Fiend Artisan Does

Fiend Artisan gets +1/+1 for each creature card in your graveyard. It also has an activated ability that lets you pay mana, tap it, and sacrifice another creature to search your library for a creature card with mana value X or less and put it onto the battlefield.

That makes Fiend Artisan part threat, part tutor, and part sacrifice outlet. It is strongest in decks that fill the graveyard and have creatures worth turning into other creatures. The card does ask for setup, because without creatures in the graveyard or on the battlefield, it mostly just broods.

Best Uses for Fiend Artisan MTG Proxy

  • Graveyard decks: Fiend Artisan grows as creature cards accumulate in your graveyard.
  • Toolbox Commander: The activated ability can find silver-bullet creatures or combo pieces.
  • Aristocrats decks: Sacrificing creatures can be a benefit when your deck rewards death triggers.

Recommended Interactions

Fiend Artisan works well with self-mill, cheap recursive creatures, and creatures with strong enter-the-battlefield abilities.

  • Stitcher’s Supplier: Fills the graveyard and provides a cheap creature to sacrifice later.
  • Gravecrawler: A recursive creature that can help fuel sacrifice and tutor lines.
  • Protean Hulk: Gives toolbox decks a powerful creature to find, sacrifice, or build around.

Strengths and Considerations

The main strength of Fiend Artisan is role compression. It can attack, tutor, and sacrifice creatures from one card. The main consideration is speed, since the activated ability requires tapping and mana. Testing Fiend Artisan MTG proxy can help you decide whether your Commander deck, cube, or graveyard shell supports it consistently.

Product Quality and Proxy Use

ProxyKing cards are produced with premium print quality, proper trading-card size, ideal weight, consistent thickness, and a natural shuffle feel for sleeved casual play.

This is a proxy/playtest card for casual play, Commander, cube, display, and deck testing where proxies are allowed. It is not an official Magic card and is not tournament legal. Review our Proxy Use Policy for responsible casual use.

I bought a few foil cards. If the colors were brighter, these would be the best proxies on the market. At least for the foil version it’s too dark.
