Why Venusaur is a classic
Venusaur is one of the original 151 Pokémon—and the final evolution of the Bulbasaur line—so it hits that perfect mix of nostalgia and “actually strong in games.” It’s a Grass/Poison Seed Pokémon with the iconic giant flower on its back, which is basically a solar panel: it absorbs sunlight, powers up its attacks, and gives Venusaur that unmistakable silhouette.
In the video games, Bulbasaur evolves into Ivysaur at level 16, then into Venusaur at level 32. Venusaur is known for a mix of pressure and control—classic moves like Solar Beam, Sleep Powder, and Sludge Bomb are a big part of why it’s stayed relevant for so long. Its standard ability Overgrow boosts Grass-type moves when it’s low on HP, and its hidden ability Chlorophyll can make it terrifyingly fast in sunny weather. If you’re going deep into Gen 6+ mechanics, Venusaur can also Mega Evolve into Mega Venusaur, bulking up even more and gaining Thick Fat.
