Rise of the Eldrazi packages removal, cards, and another turn into one enormous spell. It destroys a targeted permanent, has a targeted player draw four cards, and gives you an extra turn. A colorless ramp deck can use it to answer the most important obstacle while refilling for the turn it is about to receive.
The cost includes three actual colorless mana symbols, so colored mana alone cannot cover it. Lands and rocks that produce colorless are essential alongside enough total acceleration to reach twelve mana. The spell cannot be countered, but that does not prevent every interaction with the stack or protect its targets from becoming illegal.
You usually choose yourself for the draw and an opposing permanent for destruction. Because the spell has separate targets, it can still resolve with a legal target remaining even if another becomes illegal. Choosing a permanent with indestructible will not destroy it, although the other parts can still be useful. A spell-copying effect can create another powerful set of instructions without paying the full cost again.
Rise exiles itself during resolution, so ordinary graveyard recursion is not a simple way to repeat it. Its best home is a deck already comfortable casting expensive colorless spells and prepared to use the extra turn immediately. Have a threat or engine on the battlefield, or useful follow-ups in hand, so the enormous mana investment becomes a decisive sequence rather than a temporary pause in the game.
