Myrel, Shield of Argive gives a Soldier army a protected window to grow. During your turn, opponents cannot cast spells or activate abilities of artifacts, creatures, or enchantments. That makes it easier to commit to combat, equip a key attacker, or resolve a follow-up spell without the usual range of responses.
Her attack trigger supplies the army. Count the Soldiers you control as it resolves, then create that many 1/1 colorless Soldier artifact creature tokens. Myrel counts herself, and previously created Soldiers count on later attacks. Even a modest starting board can grow quickly if she keeps attacking. Soldier tokens also give cards such as Skullclamp plenty of material, while an anthem makes the growing force more dangerous.
Token support fits naturally. Anointed Procession increases production, and a card such as Reconnaissance can help preserve important attackers through combat. Because the tokens are artifacts, artifact-count payoffs may also have a place, although the main plan remains attacking with a wide Soldier board. Myrel's restriction does not stop every possible interaction. Opposing triggered abilities still work, and activated abilities of lands remain available. She also needs to attack before producing tokens, so haste or protection can matter when you cannot wait a full turn. Start with enough inexpensive Soldiers to make her first attack meaningful, then leave room for ways to recover after a sweeper. A huge token count is most useful when the deck can turn it into a decisive combat.
