Sakashima the Impostor can become another copy of a valuable creature while keeping its own name. That exception lets it copy a legendary creature you already control without sharing that creature's name for the legend rule. A second version of a commander or major engine can therefore remain alongside the original.
The choice is made as Sakashima enters and does not target. You can copy a creature with hexproof or shroud, and you are not limited to creatures you control. Entry abilities from the copied creature can trigger normally, making cards with immediate value attractive choices even if you do not expect the copy to survive long.
Sakashima also retains a paid ability that returns it to your hand at the beginning of the next end step. That gives you a way to choose a different creature on a later cast, but it is not an immediate bounce effect. Activating it in response to removal does not return Sakashima before that removal resolves. Blink effects offer a different way to reset its copy choice. The copy uses the original creature's copiable characteristics, not its temporary bonuses, counters, or attached Equipment. Choose for abilities and printed characteristics rather than assuming it duplicates the creature's current size exactly. Sakashima is a flexible fit for blue value decks with strong creatures to duplicate, and its different name is particularly useful when the best available target is legendary.
