Fabricate gives blue decks a straightforward way to find any artifact card and put it into hand. For three mana at sorcery speed, it can assemble an engine, locate a missing combo piece, or find a utility artifact that addresses the current board. The search has no mana-value limit, so its usefulness grows with the variety of artifacts in your deck.
Sensei’s Divining Top is a useful target when the deck needs selection, while The One Ring can supply a larger draw engine. A combo deck might find Isochron Scepter or Aetherflux Reservoir when the other pieces are already available. Mana rocks are also valid targets if improving access to mana is the most practical way to keep the game moving.
Urza, Lord High Artificer decks can use Fabricate to find artifacts that contribute to both the primary plan and Urza’s mana ability. Artifact creatures qualify as well, making Phyrexian Metamorph or Walking Ballista possible choices. The card you find is revealed, giving opponents information about the threat or resource you intend to use next.
Fabricate puts the artifact into your hand rather than onto the battlefield, so reserve enough mana or another appropriate effect to deploy it. Searching for an expensive answer may be too slow if the immediate problem needs to be addressed this turn. It also costs a card and three mana before the target contributes anything. Use it when precise access is worth that investment and your artifact package offers useful choices at several stages of the game.
