Urza’s Incubator reduces the generic cost of creature spells of a chosen type by two mana. That can make a substantial difference in decks filled with expensive Dragons, Angels, Eldrazi, or other creatures sharing a type. It is especially useful when the deck wants to cast its creatures and receive cast triggers rather than put them directly onto the battlefield.
A Dragon deck led by The Ur-Dragon can combine Incubator with other reductions to bring large threats into range sooner. Eldrazi decks can similarly reduce the generic portion of a spell such as Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger while still receiving its cast trigger. Colored mana symbols and any specifically required colorless symbols remain part of the cost.
Vanquisher’s Banner complements Incubator by drawing a card whenever you cast a creature of the selected type. One artifact helps pay for the creature while the other helps replace it in your hand. That pairing supports a deck that wants to continue deploying threats over several turns instead of exhausting its hand after a single burst.
The cost reduction applies to all creature spells of the chosen type, including your opponents’ spells. Choose the type with the table in mind, especially when another deck shares your theme. Incubator also does not reduce activated abilities or unrelated spells. Cheap creatures with mostly colored costs may receive little benefit, so prioritize it when the deck has a dense group of qualifying creatures and enough generic mana in their costs to make the discount meaningful.
