The Mycosynth Gardens gives artifact decks a land that can become another copy of an important artifact. It normally taps for colorless mana, can filter one mana into any color, and has an activation that makes it a copy of a nontoken artifact you control with mana value equal to the chosen X. This creates flexibility without spending a spell slot on a conventional copy effect.
Copying a mana rock can increase your future mana production, while copying a value artifact such as The One Ring can provide access to its activated draw ability. The latter does not grant the Ring's entry-based protection because the Gardens changes characteristics without entering the battlefield again. The same distinction applies to any artifact whose strongest feature is an entry trigger.
Once the copy effect resolves, the Gardens generally has the copied artifact's characteristics rather than its original land abilities. If the copied artifact is not a land, it is no longer a land. It also does not copy counters or temporary effects on the target, so a counter-dependent artifact may require additional setup after being copied.
The activation includes tapping the Gardens, which can delay use of a copied tap ability until you untap it. Legendary targets also bring the legend rule into consideration. Evaluate the copy you will actually end up with, including its mana value and entry requirements, rather than assuming every powerful artifact on your board becomes an equally powerful second copy immediately.
