Sacred Foundry gives red-white decks a land that can keep an aggressive or Equipment-focused opening moving. It produces either color, has the Mountain and Plains types, and can enter untapped for two life. That makes it useful when a deck wants to cast a white support creature early while retaining access to red interaction or combat payoffs.
Arid Mesa finds Foundry through either type. Flooded Strand can find it as a Plains, and Bloodstained Mire can find it as a Mountain. Those overlapping search routes also help Jeskai, Mardu, and Naya decks assemble the colors needed for a multicolor commander or a sequence of differently colored spells.
Sram, Senior Edificer and Stoneforge Mystic illustrate the white side of an Equipment plan, while red provides threats and cards such as Vandalblast. Foundry helps the deck switch between those roles without relying on a separate mana-fixing permanent. It produces one mana at a time, so its flexibility still needs support from additional lands when a turn involves several colored spells.
Pay two life when the untapped mana advances the turn, and accept a tapped land when you can wait. Fetching Foundry before your next untap often preserves that choice without slowing later development. The card is nonbasic despite its land types, so Fabled Passage cannot find it. Also remember that a separate instruction to put the land onto the battlefield tapped remains in force even if you choose to pay Foundry’s two life.
