Raise the Palisade gives blue creature-type decks a way to clear most opposing creatures while retaining their own army. You choose a creature type, then return all creatures without that type to their owners' hands. Five mana can buy a large tempo advantage when your board shares a type and the creatures blocking your attacks do not.
Merfolk decks are a natural home, especially when lords and other type-based bonuses already reward keeping a dense Merfolk board. Wizard and other blue creature-type strategies can use the same principle. Retaining your key creatures while opponents spend future turns recasting theirs can create a strong attack window or give your value engines additional time to operate.
Bounce handles indestructible creatures and avoids death triggers, but it does not permanently remove ordinary creature cards. Opponents may reuse entry abilities when they replay those cards, so consider whether the immediate opening is worth the future value you return to their hands. Tokens that are bounced cease to exist after leaving the battlefield, making the spell particularly effective against off-type token armies.
Your own off-type support creatures return to hand too, while opposing creatures of the chosen type remain. Changelings also survive the bounce because they have every creature type. Count the actual board that will remain, then cast the spell when your retained creatures can turn that temporary advantage into damage, development, or a protected turn of engine value.
