Mox Jasper is a zero-mana artifact that produces any color, but only while you control a Dragon. That condition makes it a specialized accelerator for Dragon decks rather than an automatic mana source in every opening hand. Once a Dragon is present, the rock can help cast the next threat or hold up interaction without another mana investment.
Cheap Dragons and changeling creatures make the ability available earlier. A changeling has every creature type and can satisfy the Dragon requirement even if it looks very different from the deck's larger threats. Dragon tokens also qualify. Building with a few inexpensive enablers makes Jasper more reliable than relying entirely on five- and six-mana Dragons.
The mana ability checks the condition when you activate it. Removing your last Dragon can leave the artifact unable to produce mana until another arrives. That makes sequencing important when planning a turn that depends on Jasper for the final colored mana. It is also legendary, so multiple copies do not normally stay on the battlefield together under your control. The Ur-Dragon and other multicolor Dragon strategies appreciate access to any color once their board is established. Evaluate how often your actual opening sequences put a Dragon into play early. Jasper is most effective when the creature requirement is naturally satisfied and the free mana source helps you build on that existing board.
