Inventors’ Fair gives artifact decks a land that can eventually search for a specific artifact. Controlling at least three artifacts enables its four-mana search activation, which also taps and sacrifices the land. The chosen artifact is revealed and put into your hand, so you still need the mana or another effect to deploy it.
The same artifact threshold can gain you one life during upkeep, and Fair normally taps for colorless. Sol Ring, Sensei’s Divining Top, and artifact tokens can help satisfy the count. Finding Aetherflux Reservoir or another engine is useful only when the deck can use it in time, so account for the search payment and losing a land before committing.
Artifact packages work well when their pieces have useful roles outside the largest combo. Sensei’s Divining Top supplies selection, mana rocks support development, and a specialized payoff can finish a turn once the other resources are available. Consider which piece the current hand is missing before investing in a search or recovery sequence, especially when the artifact still needs to be cast afterward.
The three-artifact requirement is checked when activating the search ability. Keep track of Treasures or other artifacts you intend to sacrifice for mana, since spending them first can turn off the activation. A later artifact removal spell does not undo a search that has already been legally activated.
