Gisela, the Broken Blade gives a white deck an efficient evasive threat with first strike and lifelink. Flying helps her connect, first strike can defeat a blocker before it deals damage back, and lifelink makes those attacks useful in a race. She can contribute to an Angel or Equipment plan without needing the meld combination immediately.
Lyra Dawnbringer improves both her size and the rest of an Angel board. Equipment can add protection or damage while making the lifelink swing more substantial. Gisela's relatively low toughness means keeping her safe from removal and larger flyers matters, even though her combat keywords make some blocks unfavorable for opponents.
The larger payoff comes from Bruna, the Fading Light. If you own and control both required creatures at your end step, Gisela's trigger can exile and meld them into Brisela, Voice of Nightmares. Bruna can also help recover an Angel from the graveyard through its cast trigger, providing a way to assemble the pair when Gisela has already been removed. Copies generally cannot substitute for the actual meld cards to create the combined permanent. The setup also gives opponents a chance to interact before the end-step trigger finishes. Build so each half contributes independently rather than filling the deck with support for only one dramatic transformation. Gisela is most useful when she already serves the combat and life-gain plan, with the meld providing a powerful additional route when both pieces come together.
