Fiery Confluence can clear small creatures, break several artifacts, or deal six damage to every opponent. You choose three modes and may repeat a mode, making it a flexible four-mana sorcery for red decks that want interaction without giving up reach.
Choosing the opponent-damage mode three times deals three separate instances of two damage to each opponent. Neheb, the Eternal can convert the resulting life loss into a large postcombat mana burst. Damage-increasing effects can also improve those events. If an artifact engine is the real problem, selecting artifact destruction several times can remove multiple pieces instead of spending the card on life totals.
The creature-damage mode hits your creatures too. One point can clear small tokens, while choosing it three times supplies three total damage to each creature. Check your own mana creatures and utility bodies before committing. Mixing modes often creates the best exchange: remove an artifact, clean up small creatures, and still push some damage through. Mode order is fixed by the spell's text, rather than by the order in which you announce your choices. Repeated modes are carried out in that printed sequence. As a sorcery, Confluence also asks you to act during your own main phase, so it cannot replace instant-speed protection against every combo. Its appeal is breadth: one slot can answer an artifact board, reset tokens, or help close a game when opposing life totals have fallen within reach.
