Field of the Dead turns a diverse mana base into a continuing source of creatures. Once you control at least seven lands with different names, Field and your other entering lands can create 2/2 Zombie tokens. That gives lands decks a way to develop a board through the same land drops and ramp spells they already want to use.
The condition counts different names, not different land types or colors. Field itself can be one of the seven names, and additional copies of a basic land do not each add a new name. Once the condition is satisfied, an entering land can trigger the ability even if another land with that same name is already on the battlefield.
Scapeshift can search for a collection of differently named lands and bring them in together, potentially producing several Zombie triggers if the condition is met. Ancient Greenwarden can increase land-trigger output, while Crucible of Worlds and fetch lands help provide repeated entries across later turns. The resulting Zombies can attack, block, or supply sacrifice outlets such as Ashnod’s Altar.
Field enters tapped and produces only colorless mana, so it requires room in the mana base beyond the sources needed for early colored spells. The seven-name condition must hold when the ability would trigger and when it resolves. Land removal can therefore disrupt a marginal setup. Include enough distinct lands without making the mana base unreliable, then use Field as a payoff that keeps generating bodies as the deck continues its normal land development.
