Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth lets green decks get green mana from utility lands without giving up those lands’ existing abilities. While it is on the battlefield, every land is a Forest in addition to its other types, including Yavimaya itself.
That makes lands such as Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx or Urza’s Saga more flexible while Yavimaya remains in play. They can use their normal abilities or tap for green through the Forest type. The effect does not make lands basic, change their names, or remove the conditions attached to their other abilities.
Quirion Ranger creates a useful interaction because its activation can return a Forest you control to your hand to untap a creature. With Yavimaya active, a utility land can satisfy that Forest requirement, giving a creature-mana deck more options for paying the cost. Chatterfang, Squirrel General benefits differently: Yavimaya gives opponents Forests, helping Chatterfang’s forestwalk make it difficult to block.
The benefit is symmetrical, so opponents also gain access to green mana and Forest-related interactions. Lands in libraries do not become Forests, meaning Three Visits cannot search for Yavimaya simply because of Yavimaya’s own ability. It is also fixing rather than acceleration on its own: each ordinary tap still produces one mana. Choose it when your utility-land package or Forest synergies make the extra flexibility valuable, and keep enough naturally reliable sources that losing Yavimaya does not unravel your mana base.
