Exotic Orchard is an untapped land that borrows its color options from the lands your opponents control. In a multiplayer game with several multicolor decks, that can provide a wide range of mana from one slot. It is particularly useful when your deck wants broad fixing without paying life every time it taps a land.
An opponent’s Command Tower can open several colors, while their Watery Grave provides blue and black. Orchard checks what the opposing lands could produce, so those lands do not need to be untapped. You do not activate or take control of them, and they remain available for their owners to use normally.
Fellwar Stone follows the same approach from an artifact slot. Running both can support a three-color or five-color deck whose regular lands establish the essential colors first. Orchard can then cover a missing symbol, leave a removal spell available, or help cast a card you gained from an opponent through an effect that still requires normal payment.
The available colors depend on the actual opposing mana bases. Orchard may be unreliable early, especially when you play first, and a table of mostly colorless decks gives it little to work with. It produces colors, not colorless mana. It also has no basic land types, so ordinary fetch lands cannot find it. Treat it as supplemental flexibility alongside reliable sources for your most important early spells, with its value improving as opponents establish a broader collection of lands.
