About Doubling Season
Doubling Season is a premium Doubling Season MTG proxy card from Magic: The Gathering‘s Modern Masters set. This green enchantment is most useful in decks built around tokens, counters, and planeswalker value, making it a strong option for casual Commander, cube, display, and deck testing.

What Doubling Season Does
Doubling Season doubles the number of tokens an effect would create under your control. It also doubles the number of counters an effect would put on a permanent you control. That means more creature tokens, more +1/+1 counters, more loyalty counters on planeswalkers as they enter, and more of whatever counter-based nonsense your deck has chosen as its profession.
The main value of Doubling Season is scaling. It makes token makers more threatening and counter engines much harder to ignore. A small token spell can become a real board. A planeswalker can enter with enough loyalty to use a larger ability immediately. Counter-based creatures can grow faster than opponents expect.
The limitation is setup. Doubling Season does not create tokens or counters by itself. It needs your deck to provide the effects worth doubling, and at five mana it rewards decks that can protect it or benefit from it quickly.
Best Uses for Doubling Season MTG Proxy
- Token decks: Doubles creature tokens, artifact tokens, and other tokens created by your effects.
- Counter decks: Adds extra +1/+1 counters, loyalty counters, charge counters, and other counters placed on your permanents.
- Planeswalker decks: Helps planeswalkers enter with double loyalty counters, enabling much stronger immediate plays.
- Commander and cube testing: Useful when evaluating whether a deck or cube supports enough token and counter payoffs.
Recommended Interactions
Doubling Season works well with token makers, planeswalkers, proliferate cards, and permanents that enter with counters. The best builds have immediate follow-up plays, because casting a five-mana enchantment and doing nothing else is a bold invitation to get Disenchanted.
- Anointed Procession: Adds another token-doubling effect for decks that want maximum token production.
- Parallel Lives: Gives green token decks redundancy for the token half of Doubling Season.
- Atraxa, Praetors’ Voice: Supports counters and proliferate strategies that already want Doubling Season.
- Deepglow Skate: Doubles counters again, creating large loyalty or +1/+1 counter swings.

Parallel Lives gives green decks redundancy when the main goal is doubling token creation.

Decks That Want Doubling Season
Doubling Season fits best in green token decks, planeswalker decks, and counter-based Commander strategies. In Commander, it is especially useful with commanders that create tokens, place counters, or support proliferate. In cube, it works best when token and counter themes are both present so the card has enough support.
For deck testing, Doubling Season MTG proxy is useful when you want to see whether the enchantment is a true engine in your deck or whether it is only impressive when the rest of the board is already cooperating.
Strengths and Considerations
The main strength of Doubling Season is that it turns normal token and counter effects into much larger threats. The main consideration is that it needs support and protection. Testing Doubling Season MTG proxy can help you decide whether your deck has enough payoff density to justify the slot.
