Dolmen Gate lets your creatures attack into ordinary combat damage without dying from that damage. The two-mana artifact prevents combat damage that would be dealt to attacking creatures you control. It is particularly useful when the act of attacking generates value and you want to keep those attackers available for the next turn.
Adeline, Resplendent Cathar and other attack-trigger creatures can build a board while facing less risk from blocks. A wide token army can also attack more freely, forcing opponents to absorb damage or block without trading creatures through normal combat damage. Trample and evasion remain useful because preserving an attacker is different from ensuring its damage reaches the player.
The protection applies only while your creatures are attacking. It does not protect blockers, prevent noncombat damage, or stop destruction, exile, sacrifice, and toughness reduction. Effects that make damage unpreventable can also change the result. Check for those exceptions before treating an attack as safe. The Gate does not itself increase power or provide a win condition, so pair it with attacks that accomplish something meaningful: card draw from a combat payoff, repeated attack triggers, or sustained pressure from an army. Its low cost makes it easy to establish early, and the lasting benefit grows when your deck intends to attack on most turns rather than wait behind a defensive board.
