Castle Vantress gives a blue mana base a repeatable way to improve future draws. It enters untapped if you already control an Island, taps for blue mana, and can scry two for four mana and a tap. The ability does not draw additional cards, but it helps decide whether the next two cards belong on top of your library or should move to the bottom.
Blue control decks can use the Castle when they hold mana for interaction and no longer need to cast a response. Activating during an opponent's end step can improve the next draw without committing mana during your own main phase. In a deck using top-of-library effects, the information and selection can also help plan a later reveal or cast.
The entry condition checks the Island subtype rather than the name of a basic land. A typed dual land such as Hallowed Fountain can satisfy it, while Castle Vantress itself is not normally an Island. This makes the land easier to support in some multicolor mana bases, but it cannot be found by a fetch land merely because it produces blue mana.
The activation is expensive enough that the Castle should supplement ordinary card selection rather than replace it. Keep sufficient untapped early sources so it does not compromise your opening turns. It is most useful in games where you expect spare mana later and would value selection from a land slot instead of dedicating another spell to filtering draws.
