Bloodthirsty Conqueror turns opponents' life loss into life gain for you. Damage, drain effects, and life payments can all contribute when they cause an opponent to lose life, giving a black deck a way to convert pressure around the table into a larger life cushion. Flying and deathtouch also make the Vampire a relevant attacker and a difficult creature to challenge in combat.
Sanguine Bond forms a direct loop with the Conqueror. Once an opponent loses life, Conqueror gains you that much life; Sanguine Bond can then cause an opponent to lose life again, triggering Conqueror once more. The interaction needs an initial life-loss or life-gain event and remains vulnerable to effects that remove a piece or prevent the necessary changes in life totals.
Without a dedicated combo, the card still fits lifegain, Vampire, and black midrange strategies. Gray Merchant of Asphodel can drain multiple opponents, and Conqueror converts those losses into additional life for you. That reserve can support cards such as Necropotence or other effects that ask you to spend life for resources.
The five-mana cost means you want the surrounding deck to create life loss consistently, rather than waiting for opponents to attack each other. It does not trigger from your own life payments. Pair it with effects you control so its contribution is dependable, and protect it when you are relying on the gained life to finance another part of your turn.
