Ancient Gold Dragon can turn one combat hit into a sky full of creatures. After dealing combat damage to a player, you roll a d20 and create that many 1/1 blue Faerie Dragon tokens with flying. Even a modest result expands the board, while a high roll creates a serious token army.
Token support such as Anointed Procession increases the number created, and an anthem can make the small flyers much more dangerous. The tokens are Dragons as well as Faeries, so Dragon-based support can recognize them. On later turns, attacking with those Dragons can contribute to cards such as Utvara Hellkite, creating another layer of creature production.
The original Dragon needs to connect first. Flying helps, but haste or a way around opposing flyers can be just as important as token multipliers. Double strike can generate two separate rolls if combat damage reaches a player in both damage steps. The tokens are created after damage and do not enter attacking, so they will normally contribute on future turns rather than that same combat. Seven mana is a substantial investment in a creature with no entry payoff. A token or Dragon deck should have ways to protect the first attack or recover if the Dragon is removed. Build for useful outcomes across the die's range instead of relying on a maximum roll. Once the tokens arrive, a clear combat payoff helps turn the expanded board into a win before a sweeper resets it.
