What Amulet of Vigor Does

Whenever a permanent you control enters the battlefield tapped, Amulet of Vigor untaps it. The effect is simple, but the deck-building possibilities are substantial. Lands that normally make you wait a turn can immediately produce mana, while creatures, artifacts, and other tapped permanents can also benefit.

Amulet of Vigor is especially well known for enabling explosive mana turns with bounce lands and other lands balanced around entering tapped.

Best Uses for Amulet of Vigor

• Land combo decks: Turn lands such as Simic Growth Chamber and other bounce lands into immediate mana sources.
• Ramp strategies: Remove much of the tempo cost from powerful lands that normally enter tapped.
• Commander: Excellent in decks with a high concentration of tapped lands, landfall effects, or unusual mana engines.

Recommended Interactions

• Simic Growth Chamber: One of the classic Amulet interactions, providing immediate mana despite normally entering tapped.
• Primeval Titan: Can find multiple lands at once and is central to the well-known Amulet land strategy.
• Lotus Field: Normally enters tapped, making Amulet particularly useful when you want access to its three mana immediately.
• Multiple Amulets: Each Amulet triggers separately, creating additional opportunities to generate mana between untap triggers.

Strengths and Considerations

The main strength of Amulet of Vigor is efficiency. It costs only one mana and can fundamentally change how an entire mana base operates. In a deck built around it, lands that would normally slow you down can instead become part of the acceleration engine.

The tradeoff is that Amulet does very little in a deck without enough tapped permanents to exploit it. It is an engine piece rather than a universally useful mana rock, which makes testing it especially useful when tuning a land-heavy or combo-focused deck.
