Teferi’s Protection helps white Commander decks preserve a developed battlefield through a dangerous turn. It phases out your permanents, prevents your life total from changing, and gives you protection from everything until your next turn. That combination can protect both a large board and the player relying on it.
Token decks built around Parallel Lives or Doubling Season can use it to preserve creatures and supporting enchantments through a sweeper. Equipment decks also benefit: attached Equipment phases out with its creature and returns attached. Your tokens return too. Phasing does not count as leaving or entering the battlefield, so it does not retrigger entry abilities or reset counters.
It can also support an offensive sequence. Cast a board wipe such as Wrath of God, then cast Teferi’s Protection while the wipe is on the stack. Your permanents phase out before the destruction resolves, allowing you to return with your board while opposing creatures are gone. This line requires enough mana for both spells and gives opponents opportunities to interact.
The effect is broad but temporary. Your phased-out permanents cannot provide their usual abilities while absent, and you cannot pay a positive amount of life while your life total is locked. It also does not prevent an opponent from winning through every alternative win condition. Teferi’s Protection exiles itself when it resolves, so ordinary graveyard recursion will not bring it back. Keep it for a turn where saving your position produces a meaningful advantage, rather than spending it on damage you could comfortably absorb.
