Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger begins affecting the game before the creature resolves. Casting it triggers the exile of two targeted permanents, giving a ramp deck broad answers alongside its ten-mana threat. If Ulamog later attacks, the defending player exiles the top twenty cards of their library, pressuring a resource that ordinary life gain does not protect.
The cast trigger and attack trigger serve different jobs. The first can remove blockers, engines, or lands, while the second can strip future answers and win conditions without requiring combat damage. A small blocker can stop Ulamog's player damage, but it cannot undo the attack trigger that already went onto the stack.
Indestructible keeps Ulamog safe from destruction and lethal damage, though exile, bounce, and sacrifice still work. Haste helps convert the large investment into an attack before opponents find those answers. Eldrazi Temple, substantial artifact ramp, and green land acceleration can all support the cost depending on the deck's colors.
Putting Ulamog onto the battlefield with Sneak Attack or another effect skips the cast-based exile trigger. That may still be worthwhile for an immediate attack, but it is a different package of value from casting the card. Also distinguish this Ulamog from the older Infinite Gyre: Ceaseless Hunger does not have the graveyard-shuffle ability. Build the deployment plan around the exact version's strengths, choosing whether you need two immediate exile targets, an attacking library threat, or both.
