Dark Depths offers a 20/20 flying, indestructible token after its ten ice counters are gone. Removing those counters through its printed three-mana ability is slow, but other cards can change the setup dramatically. The land does not normally produce mana, so it occupies a slot that needs to be justified by access to the eventual Marit Lage token.
Thespian's Stage provides the familiar land-based route. When Stage becomes a copy of Dark Depths, it does not enter again and therefore does not receive the ten ice counters. You normally keep the copied Stage through the legend-rule choice, then its no-counter trigger can sacrifice it to create Marit Lage. The original Depths and the Stage both require careful sequencing around that process.
Vampire Hexmage offers a creature-based option by removing all counters from the land. Land tutors can find the necessary pieces, while protection and disruption help the token connect after it is created. Marit Lage is legendary, so additional copies bring another legend-rule consideration rather than automatically producing a permanent army of 20/20s.
Indestructible does not answer exile, bounce, sacrifice, or effects that prevent the token from attacking. Dark Depths itself can also be disrupted before the token exists. Plan the creation window around opposing mana and visible answers, and make sure the rest of the mana base can function while one land produces no mana. The payoff is enormous, but the supporting plan is about assembling and protecting a specific threat rather than merely playing a powerful utility land.
