Stomping Ground supports red-green decks with a land that can supply either color and be found through its Mountain or Forest type. Paying two life lets it enter untapped, while accepting a tapped land preserves life when you are preparing for a later turn. Creature-ramp and landfall strategies benefit from both its flexibility and searchability.
Wooded Foothills can find Ground through either type. Windswept Heath can find it as a Forest, and Scalding Tarn can find it as a Mountain. Three Visits can also search for it, giving a green ramp spell access to red mana without requiring a basic Mountain as the target.
That pairing is useful when a deck begins with green acceleration and follows with red threats. An early mana creature can lead into a card such as Terror of the Peaks, while landfall decks can use the same colors for creatures and token production. Stomping Ground supplies only one mana per activation, so it helps establish the colors for those plays rather than replacing dedicated ramp.
Choose the entry option based on what you can actually cast. If the land arrives during an opponent’s end step and no instant is needed, letting it enter tapped can save two life. A fetch land may still require its own life payment. Ground is nonbasic, and an effect that explicitly puts a land onto the battlefield tapped cannot be bypassed by its payment option. Retain enough basics and other targets for the searches your deck uses most often.
