Card rulings 2
  1. If one of these lands enters the battlefield under your control and you control zero, one, or two other lands, it enters the battlefield untapped. If you control three or more other lands, however, it enters the battlefield tapped.
  2. If one of these lands enters the battlefield at the same time as one or more other lands (due to Oblivion Sower or Warp World, perhaps), it doesn't take those lands into consideration when determining how many other lands you control.

Updated

Darkslick Shores supports the turns when a blue-black deck wants to interact and develop at the same time. It enters untapped with two or fewer other lands under your control, giving immediate access to either color without a life payment. An early discard spell followed by blue interaction is easier to sequence when one land can cover either requirement.

Tempo, low-curve control, and compact combo decks can use that flexibility during the opening turns. The drawback arrives later: with three or more other lands already in play, the Shores normally enters tapped. If the fourth land must immediately pay for a counterspell or complete a combo turn, that delay can be consequential. Play it early when another land in hand will retain its untapped entry later.

The card has no Island or Swamp subtype. That means a fetch land cannot find it through those types, and it does not independently help a card that counts Islands or Swamps. The entry condition also tracks the actual number of other lands, not whether it is turn three or turn four; acceleration can make it enter tapped sooner, while losing lands can restore an untapped entry. Its role is dependable early fixing. Include enough other mana sources that the deck can still make timely late-game land drops when the Shores' early-turn advantage no longer applies.
