Copperline Gorge supports a red-green deck that wants to spend its first turns casting spells rather than waiting for lands to untap. With two or fewer other lands under your control, it enters untapped and can produce either red or green. That makes it useful for an opening mana creature, early aggression, or a turn that needs both colors across multiple spells.
Consider a hand with a green accelerator and a red follow-up threat. The Gorge can cover either role, giving the rest of the hand more room to work. Playing it before a basic land is often sensible because the basic remains untapped later while the Gorge may not. The entry condition tracks the actual number of other lands, so a ramp spell can move you past the threshold sooner than the turn count suggests.
Late-game land drops are the tradeoff. A Gorge drawn with an established mana base normally enters tapped, potentially delaying interaction or a larger spell. It also lacks the Mountain and Forest subtypes, so Wooded Foothills cannot find it by those types and land-type synergies do not count it automatically. This is early fixing rather than a searchable dual land. It fits best when the deck's opening turns are demanding enough to value immediate access to both colors and the rest of the mana base can support later turns without needing every new land to produce mana immediately.
